Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a primary health care system that combines modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. The naturopathic philosophy is to support the natural healing power of the body and treat the root cause of disease. Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) involves the use of pulsed electromagnetic fields, delivered through a mat that is laid upon by the individual. PEMF has powerful effects on detoxification, pain relief, lymphatic drainage and cellular regeneration. The therapy can simultaneously increase blood circulation and lymphatic flow while also enhancing cell metabolism. As such it is perhaps the most efficient therapy we know of to run concurrently with the chronic illness protocol you've been given from your ND/MD. It is a restful 30-minute session and sold either as a single session or a far more financially efficient 10-session “round”.

Magnetic field therapy is successfully used for the following conditions:

Lyme & Co-infection symptomology
Chronic Illness
Fatigue
Migraines
Insomnia
Neck and Backache
Joint Pain
Sciatica
Osteoarthritis
Sinusitis
Arthritis
Sports Injuries and Sore Muscles
Blood circulation

We are all exposed to herbicides, pesticides, colourings, additives, preservatives and untold chemicals that get into our water, food and air. The body becomes bombarded and overloaded with these toxic chemicals. The toxins and chemicals get stored in the body’s joints as well as your organs, arteries, nerves and tissues, disrupting their ability to function and creating an environment for disease, allergies and immune system breakdown.

Ion Cleanse Detox (a.k.a. Ionic Footbath) sessions provide a thorough and efficient way to detoxify the body of toxins and wastes accumulated through a life time, in combination with healthy lifestyle choices. A series of ionic foot bath sessions will help you to maintain high energy levels and long-term wellness. Healthy individuals can expect to feel lighter and experience a greater feeling of well-being from each ionic foot bath session. Research from the iconic Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, has found this therapy to be most beneficial in its capacity to cleanse the kidneys specifically.

FIR saunas operate at a much lower temperature than Swedish saunas, making them more comfortable to those who have strong heat intolerance. They detoxify the tissue much more deeply and target both fat and water soluble toxins. You sweat just as much, but do not get as hot as a traditional sauna. Some research suggests that FIR saunas promote a leaching of spirochetes from tissues and into the blood stream where the herbs are more able to kill them off. Daily saunas are highly recommended when recovering from chronic illness.

For the past five years I’ve worked in the same clinic as Dr. Marie Matheson, ND, administering therapies for a majority of her chronically ill patients to stimulate their detoxification. I understand the frustrations of those with chronic illnesses. I’ve heard their stories countless times. I’ve seen what works and hasn’t. Each year I’ve managed to add a new modality to my services.

It started with me hearing from Lyme patients about a machine that was having tremendous results. After a great deal of research I was off to Europe to purchase an AN-DI Energetic Corrector system. It was followed with intensive training in Germany. It’s able to rejuvenate cell potential and greatly affect cell detoxification. The following year, I purchased a PEMF system and started incorporating this to further aid gentle and longer-term detoxification for the same clients. Since then I have attended a conference from Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt and attained levels I & II of his Autonomic Response Testing (ART) technique, plus I have incorporated neurotherapy (by way of the Crosby Cam system).

This clinic is an exciting moment for myself and my wife, Dr. Marie Matheson, as we will be able to offer a suite of therapeutic modalities that will help future patients to heal faster. My interest in this field is ever evolving and I can’t wait to welcome you all to BioHeal Ottawa.

Dr. Marie is a Naturopathic doctor and co-founder of BioHeal Ottawa which opened in April, 2019. She graduated from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in 2005 and for the past decade was the senior ND at a local wellness clinic. Opening the BioHeal Ottawa clinic is a professional dream come true.

Grounded in general practice skills, Dr. Marie thinks of herself as somewhat of a health detective for chronic illnesses, specifically when it comes to figuring out the underlying causes of chronic illness. Within this field, she is particularly well known for her expertise in treating Lyme Disease.

Her willingness to freely share clinical pearls of wisdom among colleagues has led to her being a sought-after speaker at conferences. This, along with her professional reputation, lead to her being asked to be a recent author of a chapter within the Connie Strasheim’s ground-breaking book, New Paradigms in Lyme Disease.

It’s hard to improve on the Naturopathic refrain, “fix the terrain”, but this is the mission at the heart of Dr. Marie’s practice. She meets all her patients with the heartiest smile and an open mind.

She is a member of both the Canadian association of Naturopathic Medicine and International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS).
